The riddle of how to seat a large group of people in a small living room is solved with banquettes. These armless, upholstered bench seats have been built along two walls in a 9 x 12 sunken room. Twenty people can be seated easily, yet there’s walking-around space, too. The banquettes are deep enough so that tall people can sit comfortably in them. The deep blue upholstery fabric on the benches placed against the white brick and rough-sawn cedar walls brings exciting contrast to the room. Bright red pillows complete the patriotic color scheme. A picture gallery on the paneled wall can be changed from time to time to keep a fresh, new look in the decorating theme.
